Synopsis
Cerney House Gardens is set deep in the Cotswolds around a house that originally dates from the 17th century though much altered and extended through the 18th and into the 19th centuries. Behind it is a walled garden with trained fruit and masses of roses, in March just beginning to stir with scented shrubs such as viburnum and osmanthus, daffodils and cheery forsythia. Owned by the Angus family since 1983 the garden has undergone a gentle renovation over recent years having become overgrown. Points of interest include an icehouse, a bothy that now houses a tea room, and a ruined chapel. It's a garden with real romance, beautiful planting and a strong sense of place.
