Synopsis
Garden owners Georg and Chan, live with their two children, Finn (9) and Keoki (7) in a modest cottage 2 hours drive south of Sydney. This garden is small but by using considered design it feels big, is practical and is aesthetically pleasing. Drawing inspiration form tropical Asian style gardens, like ones found throughout Indonesia, this garden feels like a mini resort. It has generous timber bench seating, a bespoke pizza oven, a large tiered hardwood timber deck, potted plants and a hot water shower to wash the sand off after a swim at the near by beach. By using using simple materials and interesting geometry this garden feels modern but at the same time very comfortable and homey. A unique feature of this garden are the large format, cast in situ, concrete stepping stones. Their large size and bold shapes give this garden the wow factor.
