Synopsis
A formal framework of bay, yew and hornbeam divides the long wedge-shaped garden into distinct areas. Around the house the spaces are formal, with topiary, obelisks supporting clematis, box edged beds, stone paths and neat lawns. Further away from the house is a large bog garden full of rodgersia, candelabra primulas and euphorbias beside a pond; woodland areas feature drifts of naturalized red tulips, foxgloves and red campion, and a formal vegetable garden occupies a sloping site with the tower of the Church of St Mary the Virgin as backdrop . A garden full of strong design ideas as well as bags of beauty and atmosphere. The owners open the garden regularly to raise funds for charity.
