Synopsis
The Yeo Valley Organic Garden is located at the heart of the Yeo Valley Family Farm with views over open countryside towards Blagdon Lake. It is one of the largest organically certified ornamental gardens in the country. The farm itself is home to an organic dairy herd, which graze the fields surrounding the farm. The photographs were taken in late May early June when the alliums, spring borders, blossom and meadows are bursting with life and colour. The garden is a masterpiece in contemporary planting, where the gardeners are always experimenting and trying out new ideas, with the ethos of putting the soil first by producing their own compost mixes. The garden puts the environment in the forefront and the planting is pollinator friendly. The meadows burst with Camassias and for a dairy farm buttercups fill the meadow. The garden has strong design and is filled with over 20,000 bulbs, perennials and self seeded plants. It takes you on a journey through different spaces divided by beech hedges. The gravel garden is filled in springtime with Alliums, Irises, flowering Wisteria, foxgloves in a theatrical riot of colour, with a beautiful palette. In this part of the garden there is a pond full of water lily pads and water marginal plants. It is open to the public on certain days and is closed for winter.
