Synopsis
At the top of the garden there are wonderful views over the surrounding fells. The ‘rooms’ are varied and include a formal garden with box hedging and topiary with colourful herbaceous planting, an informal garden with tall prairie grasses, a wildflower garden with a long rill and a small hot garden which returns via a cleft oak gate to the other areas. Claire opens her garden for the National Garden Scheme. The garden has been made from a burgage plot which would have provided self-sufficiency in bygone days.
