Trelan

Trelan in May has an exotic feel, with its natural swimming pond surrounded by a feast of large foliage plants, interspersed with hundreds of Echium pininana, their spikes of blue flowers humming with bees.

Synopsis
Created by painter Nick Williams over the last ten years, the garden has a remarkably mature feel. Massive Monterey cypresses and the garden's proximity to the Hayle estuary gives it a sheltered micro-climate where frosts are rare. Architectural plants include several species of Pseudopanax, Eriobotrya deflexa, the bronze loquat, shaggy Podocarpus henkelii, bananas, palms and succulent Furcraea longaeva, one plant of which has produced a colossal flower spike, many metres tall. Grass grows long and wild flowers are welcomed. Open for the NGS for the first time this year.
