Synopsis
The walled garden at Downton House is set in the heart of the Cotswold town of Painswick, itself long associated with snowdrops. Many of the varieties in the garden are named for noted local growers, such as James Atkins. The garden's creator, Jane Kilpatrick is one of the authors of 'The Galanthophiles', a book about the people who popularised these winter bulbs. The garden also has hellebores, dwarf iris and winter foliage
