Rhodes Drive

This rambling garden is situated on a vertiginous mountain slope bordering Cecilia's Forest in Constantia, Cape Town. It was was given a radical makeover resulting in cohesion and a restored sense of grandeur.

Synopsis
The garden is designed across three levels. The swimming pool flanked by flower beds, rose gardens and a fire pit occupies the middle level. Natural sandstone terraces, a water feature and viewing deck define the upper garden. Stone steps lead to the lower level and an enormous camphor tree beside which a bench has been built to enjoy the sunshine that this spot receives in winter. Planting was selected to suit the south-facing Afromontane Forest conditions and withstand cold, wet winters.
