Fiona and Howard's Winter Garden

A rare fall of snow, in one of the driest parts of the country, higlights the formal structure and detailing in a walled town garden near the centre of Cambridge which has been 20 years in the making.

Synopsis
Fiona and Howard are both passionate gardeners and have spent 20 years cultivating a tranquil urban oasis that provides year-round beauty and interest behind their Victorian house near the centre of Cambridge. Internal hedges and pleached field maples combine with the existing walls to create three separate areas each with a distinctive feel. Nearest the house is a formal lawn with flower beds and borders, this leads to a tiny two person summer house overlooking a raised garden pond, whilst a small wild garden with young apple and mulberry trees, naturalised bulbs, a worshop and traditional timber greenhouse completes the sequence.
