Synopsis
This is a contemporary family garden that combines practicality with style, a strong sense of design and an obvious love of plants. At Yews Farm in the small Somerset market town of Martock, Louise and Fergus Dowding have made a garden that is formal in layout yet exuberantly planted, where vegetables migrate into the ornamental beds and ornamentals edge the vegetable plot.

For their daughters it's a delightful playground complete with wendy house, rope ladder and a trio of perky curly-tailed pigs. Louise is in charge of ornamentals while Fergus' domain is the veg patch. Any surplus produce is sold in the town on at the local producers' market that Fergus helped to set up a few years ago, so nothing is wasted.
