Synopsis
As well as being a passionate gardener, Karen Roseberry is also an artist, up-cycler and designer - think wire mesh giraffe and ghostly hands appearing in a woodpile. her partner, Paul Rutter, turns his hand to hard landscaping and characteristically quirky projects including creating a huge mobile table mounted on bike wheels for parties and other large-scale socialising. The planting is eclectic, taking account of the different habitats, with an emphasis on late summer colour in the form of dahlias, echinaceas, and persicarias, and also varied foliage forms including Ricinus communis, ligularias, tree fern Dicksonia antarctica, and borderline hardy Tetrapanax papyrifer. Karen also delights in growing trees from seed and her seedling arboretum currently holds a sassafras tree (Sassafras albidum), snakebark maples (Acer Capillipes, Acer griseum), and the big pine cone tree, Pinus coulteri.
