Synopsis
The common thread is provided by a winding path which runs the length of the garden, linking two terraces - a shady area paved in York stone immediately adjacent to the kitchen / dining room, and a raised area that basks in the sunshine at the furthest end of the garden. Between the two terraces, broad borders stretch out on each side of the path to create depth, variety, texture and interest throughout the garden. The borders also add height, partially veiling each zone on approach along the path, gradually parting to reveal the full picture, before drawing together again ahead of the next zone.
