Synopsis
Susan Copeland is the Essex County Organiser for the NGS. Alongside Doug they work tirelessly raising money for the scheme and also find time to open their beautiful family garden as well.
Wickets is a romantic country garden with informal mixed planting with different areas of interest giving interest through the year. In May the garden overflows with alliums and cottage flowers and wisteria - all Sue's favourite plants against a background of established shrubs and trees. They are developing a landscaped meadow with a lily pond featuring a monet-style bridge. The meadow is planted with wild flowers, alliums and naturalised iris which add seasonal colour. The family chickens are allowed to roam around. Curvilinear design links themed planting areas. Most importantly there are lots of places to sit and relax and enjoy the garden. The owners knowledge of plants and love of their garden space make this a special garden to visit.
