Synopsis
The property also looked out onto an electric wooden gate opening onto the back street. There was only a small narrow raised flower bed on one side with minimal planting and no shelter from the sun or noise of the street anywhere. Lesley employed the services of garden designer Karen Rogers to come up with a characterful, creative and more traditional design using yellow stock bricks to tie in with the construction of the house. She wanted to have a quiet tranquil secluded garden space to entertain in, partially shaded with easy access to the beds and planting. Karen has designed a sunken paved patio and seating area to create a secluded intimate entertainment space surrounded by deep raised beds on two sides to take a variety of tall planting using mostly perennial plants. Karen took away the electric gate and replaced it with a traditional brick wall and a arched wooden door that acts as a focal point in between the pleached hornbeam trees. Lesley now has a special quiet shaded space to entertain and relax in with little intrusion from the noise from the neighbouring streets.
