Walnut House

There is a wonderful sense of balance about the way this quarter-acre garden wraps around the timber-frame house of its Swedish owners.

Synopsis
A lawn is enclosed on all sides by borders of flowers, which give way in the centre of each side to allow pathways through. On the northern side, a path leads to a patio with dining table and chairs, enclosed in upright bay trees, clipped to form a slim hedge. Finally, to the west, a short path links with a space running behind the borders, whilst a grassy parting between plants on the southern side frames a view of a wildlife pond, flanked by three brick pillars set diagonally across the lawn.
