Synopsis
A garden a featuring water zones, one used as a natural swimming pool, and perennial planting with a particular focus on Irises along with a collection of uncommon shrubs and trees. The place where this Suisse garden is situated was formerly used as a market garden with rhubarb as the dominating culture. After retirement, the garden was designed by the owners in order to give way to their passions: He is a dendrologist with an emphasis on shrubs and trees while her focus is on perennials, especially Irises and their combinations, respecting both colour schemes and habitats. The water loving varieties are planted along a retention basin and a natural swimming pool; most of the bearded Iris thrive in the great border between a garden path and a picket fence that gives a view to a natural flower meadow in the background. Dry stone walls give structure to the garden as they do in the vineyards of the village. Clipped hedges contrast with wildflowers grown from seed.
