Synopsis
The brief for this project was essentially the need for protection. This need had to be met for the terrace of a young couple on the top floor of a building in Como. "On the terrace I could see that they were exposed to strong north winds, noise, and the eyes of the neighbours," says Matteo Bernasconi, founder of design company; 'Flower Children'. "The space needed screening but without penalising the landscape, so we decided to cover the balustrade along the north and west sides with panels of Cor-Ten steel 80 cm high, which allowed us to counteract wind, noise and reset the view of the surrounding buildings, but also leaving the eyes free to roam the mountains and the lake. " The addition of a panel of chestnut branches 2 meters high and 7 metres long, instead of separating from the adjacent terrace, provide support for clematis and caprifolgli.
