Synopsis
Designer Gina Cannon was called in to help Helen re-design her front garden to help her create a practical and attractive space which was welcoming and easy to look after. It needed storage for 3 wheelie bins, a new boundary (one boundary did not exist) and a way of making the change in level from the curb to the front door easy to navigate with bins or bikes. She also asked that I design low maintenance, colourful planting which changed with the seasons, and include lighting to enhance it. She came up with the circular design because it gives a feeling of enclosure and allows easy movement between the storage, front gate and front door. The bin store and new boundary were incorporated into one to make the most of the space. Gina and the owner chose black for the timber to make the plants and flowers stand out better, and to tie in with the river cobbles and setts used in the paving.
