Synopsis
“We wanted it to be artistic and sculptural, so we chose walls and planes and textures and went monochromatic for a timeless effect”. At the entrance to the property four columns are covered in Ficus repens (Creeping fig) to blend the transition from the interior to the exterior. The large patio doors open entirely to turn the living room into an airy open virtual porch resulting in the 14ft by 14ft pool appearing to be just a few steps away from the living room. The contemporary white garden furniture and butterfly chairs continue the design from the interior, achieving the desired effect of bringing the outside in and blurring the boundary. The garden is planted with masses of evergreen plants, which are both low maintenance and provide a uniform look to the small space. The owners of the property wanted a contemporary clean garden with a tropical vibe. By planting Phymatosorus scolopendria (wart fern) Archontophoenix alexandrae (King Alexander palm) throughout they have achieved a lush green tropical feel. Through the evergreen planting and use of white paving and walls Craig Reynolds has echoed beautifully the crisp clean lines of the interior ensuring that the interior flows seamlessly to the exterior.
