Synopsis
No Feature Sales in the UK

Photographer Suzie Gibbons' roof terrace garden sits a top an early Victorian concrete house. With its elevated position, the space, 60x30ft, with Mary Poppins' views, beautiful mature trees as a backdrop, and fabulous light from dawn to dusk, is now a relaxing urban paradise, but it wasn't always so.

A completely blank canvas, the empty terrace was an eyesore covered in bitumen and tiles, and presented a massive challenge. An ongoing project, Suzie and partner Guy did all the work themselves, with help and advice from two garden designer friends. It is now an unusual, lush, child friendly, urban space. Features include a sedum roof, central rusty water feature, and found objects, while planting of grasses and trees underplanted with Erigeron and Carex 'Frosty Curls' is simple and relaxing . ' We wanted to use the surrounding urban landmarks, such as the Swedenborgian church, the famous radio mast and The National Sports Stadium lights , so the materials we used borrow from that' says Suzie.
