Synopsis
Designer Virginie Vallee created a beautiful garden that connects an old style house and a contemporary new construction with harmony. A new gravel path is lined with a row of box, headed pleached hornbeams and beds of Allium ‘Globemaster’. The garden was long established with a large number of mature trees and shrubs. Repetition of the lime green colour across the garden (Ligustrum lucidum "Excelsum Superbum”, Euphorbia x characias var Wulfenii and Catalpa bignonioides ‘Aurea’) allows the eye to bounce across the landscape and to allow the beds to flow from one another. Multi-stemmed trees by the pool are underplanted with drifts of Salvia x sylvestris ‘Caradonna’ and Phlomis russeliana to create a bigger impact. A secret Japanese maple forest in the sheltered part of the garden behind the new building can be appreciated when sitting in the jacuzzi and through the glass framing of the sauna.
