Planting a Stone Trough with Sempervivum Plants

Practical step by step series of planting a large stone trough in a garden with Sempervivum.

Starting with a cleared trough after which gravel for drainage is added. Then a mix of john innes no2 with grit is put on top of the gravel. Plants are then lifted from their pots and planted. Finally a dressing of grit is placed over the compost. Plants in this trough are Sempervivum ‘Gold nugget’, Sempervivum ‘Cranberry cocktail, Sempervivum ‘Bing cherry, Sempervivum ‘Cinnamon starburst, Sempervivum ‘Berry cherry, Sempervivum ‘Appletini and Erigeron karvinskianus.
