Synopsis
A magical garden of 1 ½ acres set around an eighteenth century lodge house on the edge of Cardinham Woods near Bodmin in Cornwall, Pinsla is full of eccentricity, imagination and good ideas. Made by Claire and Mark Woodbine over the past 20 years it combines the use of recycled and natural materials with a painterly love of plants and flowers. Highlights include a modern 'stone circle' surrounded by fritillaries in spring, a sinuous snake made of old terracotta pots, decorative paths constructed using recycled materials including the parts of an old boiler, plain plastic pots painted with brightly coloured patterns, and tiny statuettes of animals and fairies secreted amongst the plants to delight visiting children. For adults there is a thrillingly well stocked nursery selling many fine and unusual plants plus a great variety of statues, plaques and garden ornaments, including that most taboo creature, the garden gnome...
