'We had a new garden and were keen to grow asters, especially because they are so attractive to bees, so we ordered a collection of 10 different varieties,' she recalls. Each year since, she added new varieties of either Michaelmas daisies (A. novi-belgii) or New England asters (A. novae-angliae). 'I have an October birthday, so often treated myself to a new aster,' she explains.
