Synopsis
The garden is a dreamy concoction of sumptuous borders, wild flowers, topiary, ancient parkland, water and an old walled kitchen garden. The present, evolving garden has been created and designed by the owner, Dr Joanne Merrison. Climbers cover the 16th Century façade and one is reminded of the fairytale 'Sleeping Beauty'; the romantic theme continues with the painterly borders, each with its own colour scheme - chocolate and plum; pastels; the white Madonna garden and soft blues. Wild flowers are allowed to roam and drifts of moon daisies soften the terrace. The walled kitchen garden is in full production and the produce can be sampled in the café 'The Perfect Spot' during the summer months. The grounds are a haven for wildlife with varied habitats - woodland, river, meadow, wetland and traditional hedging. There is even a ancient henge hidden in the woods.
