Mulberry House in Summer

Tina and Adrian Barber's garden, created since 2006, looks remarkably mature, thanks in part to the many trees the couple have planted, including the mulberry tree that gives the house its name, planted on the day they moved in.

Synopsis
It's difficult to believe that this garden is only half an acre as its clever design includes many distinct spaces that make it feel larger than it really is including lots of intimate seating areas linked by paths that meander through lush planting. In June alliums give a purple sheen to the garden, amongst clipped box, soft grasses and unusual shrubs including Calycanthus x raulstonii 'Hartlage Wine'. To use every available bit of space Tina and Adrian have constructed timber raised beds for growing cut flowers and vegetables on part of the drive at the front of the house. In its village setting the garden makes use of borrowed views of the historic buildings surrounding it, and is full of ideas and inspiration for all gardeners.
