Synopsis
The glorious garden of Minterne House near Cerne Abbas in Dorset is scented in late May with the sweet perfume of yellow flowered Rhododendron luteum. Unusually for this characteristically chalky county, the garden sits on a mound of acidic greensand in a hidden valley below the house. With its sometimes steep and rough tracks the garden mimics the natural habitats of the acid-loving plants that thrive there.

Home of the Digby family since 1768 the grounds were landscaped in the late eighteenth century by Admiral Robert Digby in the style of Capability Brown.
