Synopsis
A walled garden in suburban Edinburgh becomes a haven in the city for wildlife. On loam rich former farmland an old orchard has been restored, a bee hive installed to provide pollinators, a pond for frogs and newts, mini meadow for insects whilst new shrubs and trees provide good shelter and cover for wild birds. Owner Esther Mendelssohn has changed almost everything since buying the property in 1990 with her husband.
