Synopsis
From its inception 28 years ago the garden has grown and developed into a cottage garden, a formal garden, a container and courtyard garden, several rooms, seasonal gardens and art gardens. The art gardens are inspired by artists ranging from Hepworth, Hokusai, Rothko, Matisse Mondrian and Monet. This feature concentrates on late Winter interest in the garden including the Winter Garden that was created in 200. Winter can often be a time when a garden is forgotten about says Kathy. By planting a ‘snaking’ winter garden they could enjoy the brilliant salmon, red, green and purple stems of dogwoods which they have under planted with a rich variety of winter flowering bulbs and perennials. From the striking dark wine red Hellebores to carpets of golden Eranthis and twinkling white snow drops. This feature illustrates how through planting for winter against a back drop of artist inspired murals and gardening elements and objects a garden can be as colourful and interesting in winter as it is in the height of summer.
