This is a small patio garden in West London owned by Jane Boehm and designed by Antony Watkins. It is a good example of a redesign, making as much use of original features as possible.

Synopsis
With a garden which Jane uses as an extension to her house during the summer, and a patio area next to the house, it is used on a daily basis for breakfast and evening dining. There are containers with colourful summer bedding. The patio is surrounded by existing raised beds separated by a traditional crazy paving path leading to the end of the garden. Some of the planting was already there, but Antony has added some perennials, making far greater use the space. As you walk down the garden, the level rises and you enter a wider space. With a gravelled patio area, table and chairs and a sun lounger, this is a sun trap where Jane can enjoy the longer summer days. There is a traditional brick wall at he end of the garden, covered with Ivy. There are more containers with summer bedding, and also a shady border. An old tree was removed to create this space and has been filled with shade tolerant plants like hostas, ferns and also a small acer.
