Synopsis
Before they opened the nursery the couple were just very ambitious hobby gardeners although even as young people they were both passionate about plants and nature.

They bought the house and surrounding 1 hectare fields in 1987 as a young couple and started to grow their own perennials and grasses for their garden. Today they still sow, grow and propagate all the plants at their nursery. In the 1 hectare informal show garden they grow about 3000 different plants, and sell around 500 of those in the nursery.

There are flowers all year round, from the first Hellebores to the last flowers of Dendranthema. In a new part of the garden the Jacobs have planted perennials and grasses for shade borders with Geraniums, Liriope, Pulmonarias and Hakonechloa macra. Jacobs Nursery offers great varieties of Miscanthus, some of them are their own selections. If these huge grasses are cut back and chaffed in late winter the chaff is used as mulch and fertilizer all over the garden. Jacobs Nursery represents the National Dutch Helenium Collection including their own varieties, such as 'Serenade' and 'Beatrice'. A visit in summer should not be missed.
