Synopsis
Horatio's Garden South West was designed by multi-award winning garden designer Cleve West and is based at the Duke of Cornwall Spinal Treatment Centre in Salisbury District Hospital, Wiltshire, England.
The garden was photographed in spring and shows apple tree blossom, spring flowering borders including tulip varieties with landscaping details and broader garden views.
The garden was created for patients and their families to aid the 'patients' physical rehabilitation and psychological wellbeing' and includes easy wheelchair access paving, raised beds, a greenhouse, areas for horticultural therapy, a garden room, an apple tree archway, water features and a central area for sitting and socialising.
The finished sensory garden design allows for year round use by employing a carefully chosen range range of plants in combination, a series of low curving limestone wall motifs that echo the shape of a human spine, garden rooms and areas that can be used in any weather condition.
