Synopsis
It is owned by Beth Smith, who grew up in the house, which has been with her family since 1949. It was run by her mother as a guesthouse and she used the garden to grow produce and cut flowers. Beth moved to the house in 1999 after her mother's death. By then it had grown wild, so she decided to completely revamp the garden. It was planted with exotic and coastal species, with terraced beds on the slopes. After 16 years plants now jostle for space in the garden, which is also home to a national collection of Phlomis.
