Synopsis
Planting annuals in recycled containers is a fun and eco-friendly way of brightening up even the smallest space in your garden throughout the summer months. You can either grow your own plants from seed or buy from your local garden centre or market. There are plenty of varieties to choose from but it's important to choose healthy looking plants. Leggy plants are the result of plants growing with inadequate light so look for bushy, compact growth and avoid any plants with signs of pest damage so check the underside of foliage too. Small container plantings such as kid's wellies could also make a quirky gift for a friend.
