Synopsis
The owner, Alie Stoffers was always passionate about plants and inspired by English gardens. She loved to watch Geoff Hamilton on BBC TV and was impressed by his tips on how to create a garden. Alie started a career as a garden designer in 2011. When she planned her own garden in the late 1990's she chose garden rooms, separated from each other by beech hedges. A long vista leads from the terrace towards the end of the garden. There is an intimate herb garden close to the terrace which is filled with scent and insects. The dining area is hidden behind an arch overgrown with Paul's Himalayan Musk Rambler which is a fantastic highlight when flowering.

The front garden is planted with pastel colours, framed by low box hedges. At the side of the house huge hydrangeas flower all summer. Within the garden Alie planted borders of different colour themes such as; as a hot border, a purple border and a white garden. There is clever use of groundcover such as ivy and foliage plants like hosta and ferns. Low box hedges and balls are great for winter structure. There are water features, a lovely white painted summerhouse overgrown by rambler 'Bobbie James' and a productive kitchen garden which was built in 2011.
