Synopsis
Created by William Moore and John Wilson this garden is full of fine planting and beautiful detailing amongst solid stone walls and terracing. Stone walls are studded with sempervivums and hostas are displayed in terracotta pots at the front of the house; in the back garden a terrace is ornamented by a line of wirework cloches and troughs of grasses. A stream runs through the length of the garden giving opportunities for lush plantings of moisture loving plants including astilbes, rodgersias and ferns, and undulating borders push their way into the upper lawn planted with a contemporary mix of herbaceous perennials and ornamental grasses including salvias, geraniums, Stipa gigantea, stachys and Dianthus carthusianorum. Below the main garden is a lush wildflower meadow, in July buzzing with insect life amongst knapweeds, tufted vetch and grasses. A stylish garden that simultaneously encourages a host of wildlife.
