By new year, daffodil tips are peeping through the soil, with snowdrops not long behind, but it's when the flowering blackthorn is mirrored in the pond, that the owners know spring has truly arrived. 'As the leaves on the trees bud into life, one's mood is lightened by the myriad shades of fresh, zingy greens appearing almost before our eyes, especially when backlit by rays of sun that at last carry some warmth,' they say.
