Mary-Anne Robb and her late husband Alistair Robb bought Cothay Manor in 1993. Much of the structure of the garden had been put in place by the Manor's former owner Colonel Reginald Cooper who lived in Cothay in the 1920's and 1930's and he had added a shallow pond for skating on at the entrance to Cothay.
