Synopsis
Shot in August the picture set is full of choice and unusual plants only seen on Tresco or at Abbotsbury Subtropical Garden on the Dorset coast, including Musschia wollastonii from Madeira producing a huge inflorescence of yellow-green flowers from a rosette of leaves; masses of huge tree lobelias, Lobelia giberroa, producing leaves up to 80cm in length with a deep pink central vein, native to East Africa; and Fuchsia boliviana, hailing from the Andes, bearing clusters of pendant, deep red flowers among lush foliage. A tale of one man's passion for extraordinary plants that thrive in this special corner of far west Cornwall. The garden is also inspiration for the resident painter! ***Portraits of the owners are available***
