This area offers beautiful views over surrounding countryside however these exposed borders have to withstand strong wind and a cold in Winter. Ornamental grasses and hardy shrubs with brightly coloured winter shoots like Salix and Cornus are perfect plants for large exposed garden. They are only cut back once in early spring so seed-heads remain on display throughout the winter. This approach is particularly beneficial to wildlife, as it provides shelter in the undergrowth and seeds for winter food. RHS Garden Hyde Hall is a public display garden run by the Royal Horticultural Society in Essex, UK.
