Synopsis
The photos were taken on the 1st March illustrating the wonderful combination of bulbs and perennials that appear in late winter and early spring lifting spirits as flowers start to bloom again at the end of winter. (Plants growing in the garden and photographed include: Crocus, Iris, Pulmonaria, Narcissus, Helleborus, Galanthus, Eranthis hyemalis, Cycalamen coum, Betula, and Prunus x subhirtella 'Autumnalis’.)  The garden is owned by Mr Paul and Mrs Shirley Shadford. Shirley once owned a nursery specialising in hardy geraniums. It is open in June with another garden for The National Garden Scheme when the snowdrops and bulbs are replaced by hardy geraniums and other colourful perennials. The arches are covered in old English roses and clematis. There is a pond at the back of the garden with shade loving plants including ferns. (There are some images available of the garden in June.)
