Synopsis
The front garden has dark leaved acers and berberis amongst roses, geraniums, and lavenders plus a woodland corner with an oriental feel. The main part of the garden is at the back of the property on a sloping site with pathways weaving between dense planting that includes lots of herbaceous perennials and grasses including Stipa gigantea, Salvia 'Hot Lips', astrantias, foxgloves and roses, plus small bulbs such as Allium cernuum and A. oreophilum, self seeders including Erigeron karvinskianus and Centranthus ruber and good foliage plants such as black Ophiopogon planiscapus 'Nigrescens' and stripey grass Hakonechloa macra 'Aureola'. The garden also has a productive area of fruit, herbs, vegetables and for propagation with raised beds and a dipping pond at its centre. A charming garden with lots of good ideas including a neat garden seat that curves around the peeling trunk of an old apple tree.
