Set on the edge of the Blackmore Vale in north Dorset Chiffchaffs is a half acre garden with added woodland, spreading around a 450 year old stone cottage. In April visitors are greeted by the cherry avenue creating a white and pink canopy of blossom over the driveway. Created by Kenneth and Gudrun Potts over the past thirty years the cottage garden is a dense tapestry of boldly cut evergreens, choice shrubs and carefully placed stone paths and steps framing beds filled with seasonal flowers. In spring there are masses of delicate primulas, fritillaries and miniature daffodils around the several ponds in the garden, and flowering shrubs include skimmias, azaleas, rhododendrons and magnolias. The grassy path to the woodland garden is edged with wild flowers, violets, bluebells and primroses. There is a small nursery attached and the garden opens regularly to the public.
