Synopsis
South West of Tours in the Loire Valley and just a little to the East of Chinon lies the village of Témeré and nearby the stunning Chateau and Gardens at Le Rivau. This is a "must see" destination for anyone who loves plants growing in an historically important, richly defined setting. Go in the early summer and you will see up to 200 Iris cultivars in bloom and dense patterns of Alliums. Go later in the year for the pumpkins, the apple orchard and the roses. The real story here is how the family who own the Chateau and their incredibly talented daughters have, in the past 20 years, converted a derelict Chateau into a thriving business, despite the ravages of a massive fire that destroyed much of their effort. Le Rivau is a revelation.
