Synopsis
Small country garden with strong structure and lush planting. Made on a narrow site between the rampart of an Iron Age hill fort and the road, yew and box topiary frames borders full of intensely coloured perennials and annuals including salvias, dahlias, ricinus and orange flowered tithonia, the Mexican sunflower. In September the feel of harvest festival is enhanced by the fruiting gourds that snake through a wire fence. Terracotta pots full of lush pelargoniums and tender salvias add more flowers to the scene, and a collection of succulents is displayed beside a water feature. A small garden with bags of style and a strong sense of design, while showing how flowering can extend into September and well beyond.
