Synopsis
The home and garden were designed by Robert Kitson (1873-1947) a trained engineer and artist who left his hometown of Leeds in England, to build a paradise on this warm and sunny isle. Many of his original Mediterranean planting, Citrus trees, fragrant jasmines, roses and wisteria still prevail in the gardens, a series of terraces built into rock, interlinked by a series of descending water courses. The villa is now protected as an Italian National Monument, and continues to draw artists and travellers from all over the world, a lucky few can stay in the small B and B within the villa itself.
