Synopsis
The Bressingham Gardens sits within a site of 12 acres in south Norfolk within in the Waveney Valley that contain 'The Dell Garden' originally created by Adrian Bloom in 1953 now under the custodianship of his son in law Jaime Blake. Adrian and his late wife Rosemary began work on their garden 'Foggy Bottom' in 1966. In more recent years Adrian has turned his attention to plants with year round interest see his book 'Adrian Blooms year round garden'. This has developed into a specialist interest in winter gardening and has led to the creation of the 'Winter Garden' which is half and acre in size. This is perhaps what makes the Winter Garden so inspirational and interesting, it is not a huge expanse of garden, which makes the plant associations and combinations realisable and achievable for anyone with an interest in gardening and an outside space or even a container. In this feature we can see how Adrian has achieved a veritable riot of colour in the darkest months of the year. With clever and considered use of conifers to provide vivid and textural backdrops to brightly coloured shrubs, fragrant winter flowering shrubs, winter flowering bulbs and heathers. In this feature we can see how Adrian has created an inspirational example of winter colour and interest, elements of which we can all draw upon for our garden inspiration which looks at it's most magical and impressive when covered in a layer of frost.
