Synopsis
'To learn anything, you have to give things a go and make loads of mistakes, but you learn along the way,' he says. Stephen's dynamic approach lies behind a series of spectacular flower borders that inspire the pottery that he and his wife, Jane, established during 1986 in Aston, Oxfordshire. Clematis, coneflowers, agapanthus, sunflowers and asters are amongst the flowers now immortalised in floral motifs that capture their vitality. As summer stretches into autumn, the garden reaches a crescendo with a wonderful array of flowers - hot-coloured annuals, dahlias, ornamental grasses and herbaceous perennials, arranged so expertly as to suggest the combination of an experienced designer-gardener and planting of great maturity
