Synopsis
Seen on a misty September morning, the gardens take on a mysterious quality – set next to the Medieval castle, complete with theatrical planting. The Stumpery is particularly atmospheric with its large gnarled oak stumps, interplanted with hellebores, euphorbias and echiums. The garden structure softens amongst the herbaceous borders planted with pastel palettes of salvias, nepeta, cleome and cosmos. Head Gardener Martin Duncan, and his dedicated team, certainly work their magic throughout the seasons.
