Synopsis
The three-acre gardens create a colorful sub-tropical backdrop for the outdoor gallery. Over 275 plant varieties and fifty sculptures are displayed throughout the various garden areas which include two tranquil water gardens, a vibrant butterfly garden, a begonia collection and an English garden ornamented with white wooden obelisks.

Czech-born American Albin Polasek (1879_-_1965) designed the home and retired there in 1949 at the age of 70 after nearly thirty years as the head of the Department of Sculpture at the Institute of Chicago. At Polasek´s request, the Albin Polasek Foundation was founded in 1961 and his gallery was opened to the public displaying over 200 of his works. He was one of America´s foremost 20th century sculptors whose work has garnished many awards and can be found throughout Europe and America. Albin Polasek´s life was dedicated to encouraging the study, appreciation and advancement of representative art.
